Role Description The Director of Accounting is a full-time, on-site role based in Agios Nikolaos, Crete. This position oversees all accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and cash flow monitoring. The Director of Accounting prepares and reviews financial statements, manages budgeting and forecasting, and ensures accurate and timely financial reporting. The role involves maintaining internal controls, ensuring compliance with local regulations and tax requirements, and supporting financial audits. The Director of Accounting collaborates with leadership to provide financial analysis, inform strategic decisions, and optimize financial performance for ongoing and new construction projects.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Finance and Financial Reporting, with experience overseeing accounting processes and budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret Financial Statements for management and stakeholders.
- Certified Public Accounting (CPA) or equivalent professional certification, with in-depth knowledge of accounting standards and regulations.
- Advanced Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and support strategic decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in the construction or real estate industry is highly beneficial.
- Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, and strong Excel skills.
- Ability to lead and develop an accounting team, with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Fluency in Greek and good command of English preferred.
