Our client is a leading global investment and financial services organisation with a strong presence in Australia’s superannuation sector. They are known for their commitment to governance excellence and delivering strong member outcomes. During a period of sustained growth they are looking to add a Director to the team.
About the Role
This is a senior leadership position within the Office of the Superannuation Trustee (OST) — an independent function supporting the Trustee Board.
As Director, you will play a key role in shaping and overseeing strategy across Member Services and Operations, ensuring delivery of strong member outcomes aligned with SPS 515 and broader regulatory requirements.
You will act as a critical interface between the Trustee, Board, and service providers, driving governance, oversight, and strategic delivery.
This is a Sydney based role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of Trustee strategy, business plans, and performance metrics
- Oversee delivery of strategic outcomes by service providers and outsourced partners
- Drive the annual Member Outcomes Assessment and ongoing business performance reporting
- Provide governance oversight across product, insurance, and retirement offerings
- Manage and review service provider performance, including 4th party oversight
- Support regulatory engagement with APRA and ASIC, including response coordination
- Prepare and review Board and Committee papers
- Support and contribute to the Member Services & Operations Committee (MSOC)
- Monitor regulatory, legislative, and industry developments impacting the Trustee
- Escalate material risks and ensure alignment with risk and compliance frameworks
- Act as backup Company Secretary, supporting Board and Committee governance
About You
You are a senior leader within superannuation or financial services with deep expertise in governance and member outcomes.
You will bring:
- 10+ years’ experience in superannuation or financial services
- Strong knowledge across product, insurance, retirement, and trustee governance
- Experience engaging with APRA and ASIC
- Proven ability to influence at Board and Executive level
- Strong written skills, including Board papers and regulatory submissions
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving capability
- Ability to operate autonomously in a complex governance environment
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications (preferred)
- RG146 or similar industry qualifications (desirable)
- Company Secretarial qualifications (advantageous)
