About the Role

1-800-Flowers.com is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Director, Inventory Control to lead enterprise-wide inventory accuracy and governance across our omnichannel supply chain network.

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, this leader will oversee the Inventory Record Accuracy (IRA) function and drive inventory integrity across distribution centers, seasonal fulfillment facilities, and production operations. The successful candidate will partner closely with Operations, Finance, Merchandising, Production, and Inventory Planning to ensure accurate inventory visibility, operational efficiency, and exceptional customer fulfillment.

What You'll Do

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the enterprise inventory control strategy aligned with business growth objectives and customer service goals.
  • Lead and develop high-performing inventory control teams across multiple locations.
  • Serve as the organization's subject matter expert on inventory accuracy, controls, and best practices.

Inventory Accuracy & Operational Excellence

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory accuracy, shrink, and operational performance.
  • Drive cycle count programs, inventory audits, and reconciliation processes to ensure inventory integrity.
  • Deliver executive-level reporting and actionable insights on inventory performance and risk.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify root causes of inventory discrepancies and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives that enhance inventory visibility, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Standardize inventory control practices across distribution and fulfillment operations.

Systems, Controls & Compliance

  • Partner with Finance to ensure SOX compliance and audit readiness.
  • Optimize inventory control processes and supporting technologies, including WMS and ERP platforms.
  • Manage programs related to shrink reduction, excess inventory, and inventory governance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Operations, Merchandising, Finance, Production, and Planning teams to support inventory flow and business objectives.
  • Support peak seasonal operations through proactive planning and risk mitigation.
  • Influence organizational change and drive alignment across multiple stakeholders.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in inventory control, supply chain, operations, manufacturing, distribution, or retail environments.
  • Proven success leading inventory accuracy initiatives within complex, multi-site operations.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, or similar solutions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience in omnichannel, e-commerce, or highly seasonal fulfillment environments.
  • Experience building dashboards and performance reporting using Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of AI-enabled warehouse technologies and inventory optimization solutions.
