Atrium is confidentially working with a large global manufacturer to identify a person to fill a newly created position overseeing Global Inventory Accounting. This position reports to the Corporate Controller and will oversee 25 plants in multiple continents. Therefore, this role will also require travel approximately 5-7 business days out of the month. We are open to considering candidates outside of the Atlanta Metro Area who are willing to add some additional travel to their schedule in coming to Atlanta.
The Director of Global Inventory Accounting oversees worldwide inventory valuation over $1 Billion, cost management, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and process improvements across multiple manufacturing or distribution sites. This leadership role requires a CPA/CMA, and expertise in cost accounting, SOX compliance, and SAP ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities and Core Duties:
- Financial Control: Lead inventory accounting, including standard costing, valuation (FIFO/weighted average), and variance analysis.
- Compliance & Audit: Strengthen internal controls and ensure SOX compliance across global inventory processes.
- Operational Partnership: Partner with supply chain and manufacturing teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation and reporting.
- Process Improvement: Drive efficiency in inventory tracking, reconciliation activities, and 3PL partner management.
- Reporting: Create inventory dashboards, analyze performance metrics (e.g., turnover, aging), and report results to senior leadership.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: 15+ years of progressive experience in inventory accounting, manufacturing, or supply chain finance.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferably) and advanced Excel, with experience in large-scale data analysis.
- Leadership: Experience leading teams, improving processes, and presenting to executives.
