Position Purpose
The Credit Analyst is responsible for assessing, analysing, and decisioning SME lending applications to ensure sound credit outcomes that balance risk, customer needs, and commercial opportunity.
Operating closely with the Sales team, this role provides fast, high-quality credit assessments that support business growth while maintaining adherence to risk appetite, lending policies, and regulatory obligations.
The Credit Analyst plays a key role in evaluating financial information, identifying lending risks, recommending suitable structures, and ensuring all applications progress smoothly through the credit lifecycle. The position partners with BDMs, Risk, and Operations to enable responsible lending and deliver exceptional experiences to brokers and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Assessment and Decisioning
- Conduct detailed credit analysis on SME loan applications, including review of financial statements, bank statements, credit reports, and business performance indicators.
- Make responsible lending recommendations and decisions in line with credit delegation, policies, and risk appetite.
- Identify key risks, mitigants, and appropriate deal structures to support balanced credit outcomes.
Sales Partnership and Deal Support
- Partner closely with Business Development Managers to progress high-quality applications quickly and efficiently.
- Provide clarity on credit appetite, documentation requirements, and deal structuring to support better submissions and higher conversion rates.
- Participate in deal discussions, providing timely guidance to improve customer and partner experience.
- Portfolio and Risk Management
- Maintain high standards of credit quality, ensuring decisions are consistent, well-documented, and aligned with policy.
- Escalate high-risk, complex, or borderline applications with well-supported credit rationales.
- Identify emerging risks or trends in applications and communicate insights to Credit and Risk leaders.
Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure all assessments adhere to responsible lending obligations, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and complete records to support audit, quality assurance, and reporting activities.
- Stay current with lending policies, product criteria, and any changes to regulatory standards.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work collaboratively across Sales, Risk, Operations, and Product to ensure smooth end-to-end processing of applications.
- Contribute insights on recurring customer issues, product gaps, or process friction points to drive continuous improvement.
- Participate in internal forums to represent credit considerations and customer impact.
Customer and Partner Experience
- Support a culture of responsiveness, transparency, and problem-solving in all credit interactions.
- Help reduce unnecessary declines or delays by promoting clarity, consistency, and proactive communication.
- Treat every application as an opportunity to enhance trust and deliver an exceptional lending experience.

- Quality, accuracy, and turnaround time of credit assessments.
