Position Summary

Vanzbon Group is seeking a Country Manager & Growth Lead to lead our Japan operations and support the next stage of our growth in the Japanese market.

This is a comprehensive leadership role combining market development, local business expansion, team building, operational coordination, and client relationship management. The successful candidate will help strengthen Vanzbon’s presence in Japan by building local partnerships, developing client opportunities, supporting service delivery, and growing a capable local team.

This position is well suited for professionals with experience in business development, corporate services, consulting, professional services, or cross-border business support in Japan.

Key Responsibilities

Market Development & Business Growth

  • Lead Vanzbon’s business growth efforts in Japan and help expand the company’s local market presence.
  • Identify and develop opportunities with companies seeking cross-border business support, market-entry assistance, corporate services, compliance support, or related advisory services.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local partners, including professional firms, banks, business associations, service providers, and strategic contacts.
  • Participate in business meetings, presentations, and follow-up discussions to support new client acquisition and long-term relationship building.

Country Operations & Local Representation

  • Act as a key local representative for Vanzbon in Japan in interactions with clients, partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Support the management and coordination of the Japan office and ensure that local activities are aligned with business priorities.
  • Provide practical feedback to HQ and regional teams on local market expectations, client needs, and business culture in Japan.

Team Building & Organisational Development

  • Support the hiring, onboarding, and development of the local Japan team.
  • Help establish internal working processes, collaboration routines, reporting structures, and team responsibilities.
  • Contribute to building a service-oriented and commercially effective local team structure.

Client Delivery & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work with internal teams and local partners to support delivery across areas such as company setup, local compliance coordination, partner management, and business support services.
  • Ensure that client opportunities are translated into practical action plans with clear timelines, responsibilities, and follow-up.
  • Maintain visibility over active projects, client pipelines, and partnership development in Japan.

Strategic Reporting & Local Insight

  • Prepare regular updates for HQ on business development progress, local operations, partner development, and market trends.
  • Contribute strategic input on sector focus, local hiring priorities, partnership development, and service positioning in Japan.
  • Help document local know-how, process notes, and business insights that can support future growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, International Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • Typically 5–10 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following in Japan:
  • business development,
  • corporate services,
  • consulting,
  • professional services,
  • cross-border business support,
  • or other client-facing commercial roles.
  • Experience in team building, office setup, or organisational development is highly valued.
  • Experience related to company establishment, business support, or local market-entry processes in Japan is a strong advantage.
  • Strong understanding of the Japanese business environment and experience working with local clients, partners, or institutions.
  • High working proficiency in Japanese and EnglishChinese is a strong advantage.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Legally eligible to work in Japan.
