Job Summary
The Cost Control Engineer supports the implementation of Budget and Cost Control (BCC) procedures across projects. The role focuses on monitoring project costs, supporting budget preparation, analyzing variances, and ensuring financial efficiency.
The position contributes to safeguarding project profitability by assisting in cost tracking, reporting, and coordination with project teams to maintain alignment with approved budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and updating project cost plans, including variations and trends
- Support cost estimation and forecasting activities (EAC / CAC)
- Monitor project costs and track actual expenses against approved budgets
- Analyze project scope, drawings, and specifications to support cost control activities
- Prepare periodic cost reports and variance analysis
- Support review of invoices and payments to ensure accuracy and budget alignment
- Coordinate with project managers and teams to collect cost-related data
- Track manpower productivity and support reporting activities
- Conduct site visits to verify actual costs and progress
- Ensure all procurement requests are within approved budget and project scope
- Follow up on subcontractor progress in relation to cost and contract terms
- Participate in project meetings and provide cost-related updates
- Support implementation of cost control procedures and best practices
- Provide feedback and support continuous improvement in cost efficiency
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management
- 3-7 years of experience in cost control, budgeting, or project cost management
- Experience in construction or infrastructure projects is preferred
Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Good understanding of cost control and budgeting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Familiarity with cost estimation and reporting tools
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Language
- English: Proficient
- Arabic: Preferred
