Job Purpose

The Corporate Financial Planner is responsible for providing professional, independent and advice-led financial planning and employee benefit consulting services to corporate clients. The role focuses on employers, trustees, HR teams, finance executives, management committees, NGOs, faith-based organisations, healthcare entities, SMEs, and larger corporate clients.

The role must support KIB’s independent advisory model by helping corporate clients design, review and implement appropriate retirement fund, group risk, healthcare, employee benefit and corporate financial protection solutions. KIB’s website emphasises personalised employee benefit consulting on both umbrella fund and stand-alone fund bases, with both the employer and employee treated as clients.

Key Responsibilities

1. Corporate Financial Planning and Consulting

The Corporate Financial Planner will:

  • Conduct needs analyses for corporate clients, including retirement fund, group risk, healthcare, employee benefit and risk-financing requirements.
  • Analyse existing employee benefit structures, including pension funds, provident funds, umbrella funds, group life, disability, income protection, critical illness and funeral benefits.
  • Recommend suitable benefit structures aligned to the employer’s workforce profile, affordability, governance needs and employee-value objectives.
  • Assist employers in balancing cost control, benefit adequacy, compliance, employee retention and sustainability.
  • Provide independent and objective advice that supports KIB’s positioning of placing client interests ahead of its own.

2. Retirement Fund and Employee Benefit Advisory

The incumbent will:

  • Advise employers on umbrella fund and stand-alone retirement fund solutions.
  • Review contribution structures, risk benefits, investment options, default strategies and member communication requirements.
  • Support benefit structure design, annual risk rebrokes, investment monitoring and service provider governance.
  • Participate in quarterly fund governance and secretarial meetings where required.
  • Assist clients with member education, retirement readiness communication and benefit awareness campaigns.
  • Work with retirement fund administrators, insurers, investment platforms and group risk providers.

KIB’s employee benefit service offering specifically includes fund governance, umbrella fund and service-provider governance, benefit structure design, annual risk rebrokes, investment monitoring, member communication, legal services and HR policy alignment.

3. Healthcare and Medical Aid Consulting

The Corporate Financial Planner will:

  • Review employer medical aid arrangements and healthcare benefit options.
  • Assist employers and employees in selecting appropriate medical aid structures.
  • Support annual medical aid review processes, option comparison exercises and employee communication sessions.
  • Liaise with medical schemes and healthcare service providers.
  • Identify opportunities for healthcare consulting, gap cover and wellness-related support where relevant.

4. Client Relationship Management

The incumbent will:

  • Build long-term strategic relationships with employers, executives, trustees, HR managers, finance teams and employee representatives.
  • Conduct scheduled review meetings with clients.
  • Prepare client reports, benefit summaries, market comparisons and renewal recommendations.
  • Ensure client service issues are followed through with insurers, administrators and providers.
  • Maintain high levels of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Act as a trusted partner rather than a transactional product provider, consistent with KIB’s client relationship approach.

5. New Business Development

The Corporate Financial Planner will:

  • Identify and develop new corporate consulting opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver corporate proposals, presentations and benefit reviews.
  • Build relationships with professional introducers, associations, churches, NGOs, healthcare institutions, employers and strategic partners.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities across employee benefits, healthcare, short-term insurance and wealth management.
  • Maintain a structured pipeline and report on prospecting activity, conversions and revenue growth.

6. Compliance and Governance

The incumbent must:

  • Operate within FAIS, FSCA, POPIA, TCF and internal compliance requirements.
  • Ensure proper advice records, needs analyses, disclosures and client recommendations are maintained.
  • Comply with KIB’s internal advice, reporting and client file standards.
  • Remain fit and proper as required for financial services representatives. The FSCA states that Fit and Proper requirements apply to FSPs, key individuals and representatives. (FSCA)
  • Complete CPD and regulatory training requirements applicable to the advice categories under which the person is appointed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Relevant NQF 6 or higher financial services qualification.
  • RE5 completed (Non-negotiable)
  • Class of Businesses : Long & Short Term Insurance, Retirement Funds and Healthcare (Having all will be advantageous).
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in corporate financial planning, employee benefits, retirement funds, group risk, healthcare consulting or financial services.
  • Experience with umbrella funds, stand-alone funds, group life, disability, income protection and medical aid structures.
  • Strong understanding of FAIS, TCF, POPIA and retirement fund governance.
  • Must qualify for appointment as a representative under the applicable KIB licence categories.
  • Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.
