Corporate Controller Jobs in San Diego Metropolitan Area at UpRecruit

Title: Corporate Controller

Company: UpRecruit

Location: San Diego Metropolitan Area

Overview

We’re looking for a Corporate Controller to join a private equity-backed manufacturing platform in San Diego. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will lead corporate accounting across multiple operating companies, with ownership of consolidation, reporting, close, audit, controls, NetSuite stabilization, and special projects.

This is a high-impact, high-ownership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and can bring structure to messy data, manual processes, and separate systems. The ideal candidate brings strong controllership judgment, advanced Excel/modeling skills, multi-entity experience, and the ability to execute without heavy direction.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants direct CFO exposure, broad operational impact, and meaningful private equity transaction exposure.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner directly with the CFO on financial reporting, board materials, lender requests, sponsor reporting, and ad hoc analysis
  • Lead corporate accounting and reporting across multiple operating companies and business units
  • Own month-end close, consolidated reporting, intercompany activity, reconciliations, audit support, and internal controls
  • Help stabilize and optimize NetSuite following recent implementation, including close processes, reporting, workflows, and data accuracy
  • Build and maintain consolidation schedules, financial models, reporting packages, commission models, and other operational analyses
  • Work across multiple ERPs and data sources to improve visibility, accuracy, and timeliness of financial information
  • Support process standardization across accounting policies, chart of accounts, banking, reporting, and close procedures
  • Partner with accounting leaders across operating companies to drive consistency, accountability, and execution
  • Support manufacturing-related accounting, including inventory, COGS, standard costing, variance analysis, and related reporting
  • Help prepare the organization for future growth, acquisitions, integrations, and potential transaction activity
  • Serve as a hands-on problem solver who can organize ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and move quickly

What We’re Looking For

  • Controller-level accounting experience, ideally in a multi-entity, P/E backed environment
  • Strong experience with consolidations, month-end close, financial reporting, audit support, and internal controls
  • Advanced Excel and modeling skills; must be comfortable building schedules, analyses, and models from messy data
  • High sense of urgency, and the ability to execute without daily handholding
  • Experience working across multiple systems, ERPs, entities, or operating companies
  • NetSuite experience strongly preferred, especially implementation, post-go-live stabilization, reporting, or workflow/process improvement
  • Manufacturing, distribution, inventory-heavy, or product-based company experience strongly preferred
  • Exposure to cost accounting, inventory valuation, standard costing, WIP, BOMs, COGS, or variance analysis preferred
  • Experience with lender reporting, sponsor reporting, board reporting, M&A integration, or transaction readiness is a plus
  • International accounting, FX, transfer pricing, or foreign entity exposure is a plus
  • Aerospace, defense, electronics, semiconductor, high-reliability components, or government contracting exposure is a plus
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
