KLR Executive Search is proud to partner with our client, an established and growing real estate organization headquartered in Rhode Island, with operations throughout Rhode Island, Greater Boston, and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Position Overview:
The Corporate Controller will serve as the senior leader of the accounting function, responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting, as well as for managing and developing the accounting team. This role requires strong leadership, delegation, and decision-making skills, and partners closely with ownership and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop accounting staff.
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Maintain general ledger integrity and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Establish and enforce accounting policies and internal controls.
- Own cash flow visibility and forecasting.
- Proactively identify risks and funding needs.
- Oversee AP, AR, journal entries, reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
- Improve workflows, documentation, and controls.
- Coordinate tax filings and year-end reporting with external advisors.
- Act as a trusted financial partner to ownership.
- Oversee accounting-related technology and office systems.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a controller or senior accounting role and/or public accounting.
- Demonstrated experience managing accounting teams.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
Preferred
- Experience with Yardi.
- Multi-entity real estate environment experience.
- Experience in a real estate controller or senior accounting role.
The salary range for this position is $140,000 – $150,000, plus additional benefits and bonus potential. Compensation is determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to the role, function, and associated responsibilities, as well as a candidate’s work experience, education, knowledge, skills, and geographic location.
