Role Description The role of the Corporate Accountant will be responsible for the preparation of the monthly and annual financial statements for the various funds and corporate entities under the ACMA umbrella, as well as preparation of all supporting documentation and reports as required. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills who is eager to assist a well established and growing company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the accounts payable process, including account coding, input, payment scheduling, cheque generation, mailing and filing for various entities;
  • Processing and reconciliation of monthly expense reports and reimbursements for internal staff;
  • Track daily cash balances;
  • Review daily banking and prepare daily cash flow reports for distribution;
  • Manage cash flows, auto-transfers and corporate banking;
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations;
  • Oversee and maintain bank account information with appropriate signature authorities;
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts;
  • Manage all aspects of the general ledger, including journal entry postings for the various ACMA investment funds and entities within the ACMA corporate group;
  • Draft and prepare monthly financial statements for review;
  • Assist with the preparation of annual audited financial statements for investment funds and notice to reader statements for the corporate group;
  • Assist with the preparation of corporate and trust tax returns and related filings;
  • Preparation and filing of GST/HST & QST related returns for the various funds and corporate entities;
  • Preparation of payroll and filing of payroll deduction remittances for members of the investment committees;
  • Ensure timely payment of tax installments for various entities;
  • Monitor annual budgets throughout the year, and report variances;
  • Monitor and maintain working capital balance and filing of required compliance reports with regulatory authorities;
  • Prepare dividend resolutions for review and signature;
  • Prepare annual return filings for various corporate entities;
  • Respond to queries from staff as well as liaising with external third parties including investors and vendors;
  • Assist with the preparation and compilation of year-end audit working papers, audit confirmations and related information for investment funds and ACMA;
  • Prepare and update investment related audit confirmations for unitholders; Maintain accounting archive records;
  • Update documented job procedures;
  • Prepare ad hoc reports as necessary; and
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing and working towards a professional accounting certificate or diploma in the CPA program;
  • Minimum 1 – 3 years of experience in bookkeeping and accounting;
  • Public practice experience is preferred;
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook;
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to a growing and changing environment;
  • Highly driven, self-motivated, enthusiastic person;
  • Strong work ethic with a high level of attention to detail;
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines as needed.
