Controller
CFS is partnering with a well-established, mission-driven nonprofit organization in the Greater Providence area to identify a seasoned Controller to lead accounting and financial operations. This search is ideal for a hands-on finance leader who values purpose-driven work alongside operational excellence.
The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, and strengthen internal controls while supporting organizational leadership with timely financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end close
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Manage annual audit activities and serve as liaison with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies
- Improve processes and controls to support transparency and efficiency
As Controller, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership and program stakeholders to support sustainable financial decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibility
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Prior experience in nonprofit or mission-based organizations preferred
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Advanced Excel and accounting system proficiency
The Controller plays a critical role in aligning financial operations with organizational goals and long-term stability.
Compensation
- Competitive salary range of $95,000–$110,000, based on experience
