Role Description
This is a hands-on Controller role for someone with multi-unit restaurant accounting experience and deep familiarity with Restaurant365 (R365).
You will own the accounting function end-to-end, build systems that scale, and work closely with operations to ensure the numbers reflect what is actually happening in the business.
What You'll Own
Financial Reporting & Close
- Own weekly and monthly financial reporting across all locations
- Lead period-end close with speed and accuracy
- Produce store-level and consolidated P&Ls with clear variance analysis
- Ensure COGS, labor, and expenses are matched to the correct periods
- Maintain GAAP-compliant financials
Restaurant365 (R365)
- Act as internal owner of Restaurant365 Accounting
- Oversee purchasing, AP, and invoice workflows
- Ensure clean integrations across POS (Toast), payroll, and banking
- Drive consistent usage across stores
Technical Accounting
- Maintain chart of accounts and general ledger across entities
- Own all journal entries (accruals, prepaids, payroll, allocations, intercompany)
- Record and reconcile inventory and inventory transfers
- Manage daily cash deposit verification and exception reporting
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and gift cards
- Own AR flows including credit cards and 3rd party delivery platforms
Fixed Assets & Development
- Manage capital expenditures and depreciation
- Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedules by store
- Build and manage project cost tracking for new store openings
Operations Partnership
- Work closely with Ops and GMs to validate labor and cost performance
- Act as the primary owner of outsourced accounting relationships
- Review and pressure test all work from external bookkeepers
- Build reporting that operators actually use
What We're Looking For
Must Have
- 5-10+ years of accounting/finance experience
- Multi-unit restaurant experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Restaurant365 (R365)
- Deep understanding of restaurant P&Ls, inventory, and labor
- Experience managing multi-entity structures
- Comfortable operating both strategically and in the weeds
Nice to Have
- Experience with Toast integrations
- Experience in high-growth or emerging brands
- Exposure to commissary or production environments
- CPA is a plus, not required
