Overview
We are partnering with a Private Equity-Backed Consumer Services organization to identify an experienced Controller to oversee the department's operational and technical accounting functions. This individual will fully own accounting operations, lead the annual audit process, oversee internal controls, optimize systems, and play a meaningful role in acquisition diligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee core accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger maintenance, and the monthly close process.
- Produce comprehensive financial reports for executive review, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and variance analyses.
- Monitor financial performance across multiple locations and operational departments.
- Review and approve expenditures, contracts, and vendor payments to ensure alignment with budgets and financial objectives.
- Own the ASC 842 lease accounting process, including review and entries, and prepare related disclosure workpapers for the annual audit
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, coordinating audit requests and supporting the successful and timely completion of the annual financial audit.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support operational improvements, capital investments, and long-term planning initiatives.
- Strengthen and standardize balance sheet and income statement reconciliations, ensuring completeness and integrity.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for executive leadership and ownership.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory guidelines, ensuring timely adoption and ongoing compliance across all financial functions.
- Partner closely with executive leadership and operational teams to support decision-making and organizational initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in preparing and analyzing financial statements and providing strategic financial insights.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations (GAAP).
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully managing teams and driving results.
- Attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.

- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational capabilities.
