Controller
Knipp Consulting, LLC has been engaged to partner with our client in the West Metro (Minneapolis) area to identify an accomplished Controller to join their growing organization. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a fast-paced, start-up environment, serving as a key financial leader responsible for the organization’s overall financial operations and long-term fiscal health.
The ideal candidate is someone who is ready for the next step in their Accounting and Finance career, is proactive, detail-oriented, and thrives in an evolving environment. This individual brings strong financial expertise, sound judgment, and a genuine interest in supporting business growth through strategic financial leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Design, implement, and maintain internal controls and financial policies to protect company assets and ensure regulatory compliance
- Prepare and present timely, accurate financial statements and reports to senior leadership
- Oversee cash flow management, financial planning, and risk mitigation strategies to support stability and growth
- Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that inform strategic and operational decision-making
- Coordinate tax preparation activities and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors
- Conduct financial analysis to evaluate business performance and identify opportunities for cost efficiencies and revenue growth
- Ensure adherence to all applicable financial regulations, standards, and best practices
Required Skills, Experience, and Attributes
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA strongly preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, ideally within the consumer goods industry
- Prior experience working with or for National Retailers, such as Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, financial analysis, and financial reporting
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems
- Prior experience in a start-up or high-growth environment is strongly encouraged
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- High level of integrity with strong attention to detail
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and overcome obstacles using sound judgment and initiative
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and collaborative mindset
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional, polished appearance
What We Offer
- Salary range: $90,000 – $120,000, based on qualifications and experience
