A rapidly expanding, private equity-backed specialty insurance platform is seeking a Controller to lead accounting operations and help build scalable financial infrastructure in a high-growth environment.
This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on, growth-oriented finance professional looking to step into a strategic leadership role with clear visibility toward a future CFO position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and management reporting
- Oversee insurance-specific accounting including premium, commission, and trust accounting
- Manage carrier settlements and ensure regulatory compliance
- Support board-level reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Partner with underwriting and operations to provide financial insights and profitability analysis
- Enhance financial systems, reporting tools, and process automation
- Coordinate audits and manage external accounting partners
- Develop scalable processes to support continued growth and potential exit
Qualifications:
- 7–10+ years of accounting experience, including leadership exposure
- Insurance, MGA, or wholesale brokerage experience preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition
- Experience in high-growth or private equity-backed environments preferred
- CPA preferred but not required
- Strong Excel and financial modeling capabilities
- Entrepreneurial mindset with willingness to be hands-on
