Construction Analyst | Assistant Project Manager – New York, NY

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join the team as a Construction Analyst. The analyst's primary responsibility will be to support the company's underwriting, asset management, and financial analysis/reporting functions. In this role, the successful candidate will work cross-functionally with originations, credit teams, asset management, and senior leadership to gain an in-depth understanding of the firm's investment and lending platform.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in real estate development, construction, lending, or investment
  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Strong financial analysis and Excel skills
  • Understanding of construction budgets, schedules, and development process preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and analytical mindset

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with ground-up construction or real estate development
  • Exposure to construction lending or real estate finance
  • Familiarity with New York City real estate market
  • Experience reviewing construction budgets and draw requests

Construction & Portfolio Monitoring

  • Conduct construction site inspections to monitor progress and identify potential risks
  • Review construction schedules and budgets to ensure projects remain on track
  • Analyze project timelines, cost reports, and change orders across multiple developments
  • Monitor borrower performance and flag potential construction or financial risks

Underwriting & Due Diligence

  • Perform due diligence for new investment opportunities including budget reviews, sponsor analysis, and project feasibility
  • Review construction budgets, development schedules, and third-party reports
  • Assist with underwriting new loan opportunities and preparing investment memos
  • Support credit team with risk analysis and project evaluation

Funding & Asset Management

  • Prepare funding request packages for internal and external disbursements
  • Review draw requests and supporting documentation
  • Track construction loan balances, funding schedules, and project milestones
  • Coordinate with borrowers, contractors, and third-party consultants

Reporting & Financial Analysis

  • Create construction and portfolio reports for senior management, investors, and credit partners
  • Maintain internal dashboards and tracking tools across active projects
  • Assist with portfolio performance reporting and risk monitoring
  • Support asset management team with ongoing project oversight
