A private equity–backed medical manufacturing company experiencing strong growth is seeking a Commercial Finance Manager to play a critical role in driving profitable revenue growth, pricing discipline, and program-level financial performance. This is a highly visible role partnering directly with the Chief Commercial Officer, plant finance leadership, and operations teams to evaluate new business opportunities, build detailed program economics models, and ensure pricing strategies accurately reflect manufacturing cost structures. Unlike traditional commercial finance roles focused on marketing or brand spend, this position sits at the intersection of commercial strategy and manufacturing operations, requiring a deep understanding of cost accounting, plant economics, and pricing strategy for manufactured products. The Commercial Finance Manager will help ensure that new programs are priced appropriately, margins are protected, and input cost fluctuations are translated into actionable pricing strategies.
- Role is remote with light travel.
- Base comp is $135k-$160k base plus bonus
Responsibilities:
Pricing Strategy & Program Economics
- Build and maintain detailed financial models supporting customer quotes and new program opportunities.
- Partner closely with the Chief Commercial Officer and commercial team to evaluate financial viability and profitability of new business opportunities.
- Analyze program-level contribution margins and provide financial guidance during pricing negotiations.
- Develop scalable frameworks for customer profitability and program economics analysis.
Manufacturing Cost Alignment:
- Work closely with plant controllers and operations leadership to ensure pricing models reflect accurate manufacturing cost structures.
- Evaluate key operational cost drivers including labor efficiency, overhead absorption, production volumes, and capacity utilization.
- Translate production cost dynamics into pricing strategies that protect margin and support growth.
Margin Optimization & Cost Monitoring:
- Monitor changes in input costs including raw materials, components, logistics, and tariffs.
- Provide leadership with insights and recommendations on cost recovery strategies and pricing adjustments.
- Support ongoing efforts to improve gross margin visibility and program-level profitability tracking.
Strategic Finance Partnership:
- Act as a key finance partner across commercial, operations, and supply chain teams.
- Support leadership with financial analysis tied to growth initiatives, operational improvements, and pricing strategies.
- Help implement tools and processes that enhance pricing discipline and margin transparency across the organization.
Required Qualifications:
- 7–12+ years of experience in finance roles within manufacturing or engineered product environments.
- Strong background in manufacturing operations finance, plant controlling, cost accounting, or pricing/quoting analysis.
- Demonstrated experience building financial models tied to manufacturing cost structures.
- Strong understanding of production economics including labor, overhead absorption, materials, and capacity utilization.
- Ability to partner effectively with commercial leadership and manufacturing operations teams.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities.
Preferred:
- Experience within medical manufacturing, medical devices, or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Experience working in high-growth or private equity–backed companies.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing cost accounting frameworks.
