Title: Chief of Staff, Power Business Unit
Company: BKV Corporation
Location: Houston, TX
You've Built It. Now Lead From the Inside.
Chief of Staff | Power Business Unit | BKV Corporation
Denver CO, Fort Worth TX, or Houston TX
BKV Corporation isn't a utility. We're not a legacy operator running yesterday's playbook. We're a publicly traded, fast-scaling natural gas and power company building one of the most integrated energy platforms in North America → upstream production, power generation, midstream, and carbon capture, all under one roof.
The Power BU is growing fast. Capital is moving. Decisions are being made at pace. And the SVP needs a right hand who can hold the whole picture → across development, execution, engineering, commercial, and operations and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
That's the Chief of Staff seat. And it's not a support role. It's a force-multiplier role.
What You'll Actually Do
- Own the operating cadence for the Power BU → planning cycles, leadership rhythms, decision tracking, and follow-through
- Drive cross-functional execution across Development, Engineering, Operations, and Commercial → build the charters, own the milestones, hold the owners
- Build board-ready materials and executive narratives that position the Power BU with clarity and credibility
- Partner with the SVP on portfolio prioritization, capital planning, and strategic sequencing
- Serve as the connective tissue between the Power BU and corporate functions ( Finance, Legal, HR, Corporate Development) keeping priorities aligned and friction low
- Run stage-gate and capital project governance: coordinate inputs, pressure-test materials, make sure recommendations are decision-ready before they hit the table
Who We're Looking For
You have 8+ years of experience somewhere in the energy, power, infrastructure, or capital-intensive industry stack and you know how large projects work. Not from a distance. You understand how capital decisions get structured, who the stakeholders are, and what it takes to move something from development to execution.
You've built materials for senior leaders, run rooms, and operated in environments where ambiguity is the norm and the pace doesn't slow down for you to catch up. You can synthesize a complex situation into a clear recommendation and communicate it to anyone from an engineer to a board member.
If you've worked directly on or alongside a $500M+ capital project in development, FID, construction, or operations – that's a differentiator. We'll want to hear about it.
What You Bring
- Working familiarity with the large capital project lifecycle – how projects are structured, who owns decisions, how capital gets committed
- Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional programs with rigor: operating cadence, milestone tracking, accountability
- Analytical and communication horsepower – you build frameworks, not just slide decks
- Financial and commercial acumen to hold your own in business case and capital prioritization discussions
- High EQ, influence without authority, and the ability to manage competing priorities with professionalism and discretion
- Bachelor's degree required; Engineering, Business, or Finance preferred; MBA a strong plus
What Makes You Stand Out
- Direct experience with power generation – capital project development, execution, operations, or commercial structures (PPA, tolling, capacity contracts)
- $500M+ capital project proximity – development, FID, construction, or operations in energy, power, or infrastructure
- Background that spans field/execution and strategy – EPC to consulting, owner's rep to corporate strategy, IPP operator to in-house leadership
