The Consumer division distributes products such as Chloro-Do Bleach, Chloro-Soft Fabric Softener, Chloro-Blu Soap, and Pro-Pet Dog Food to small businesses, wholesalers, supermarkets, megastores, and pharmacies. The Chemical division provides high-quality hygiene solutions to clients in the Food & Beverage Manufacturing, Hospitality, Health Care, and Dairy industries.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Chief Accountant role based in Kingston.

The Chief Accountant will oversee the organization’s financial accounting operations, including general ledger management, monthly and annual closings, and the preparation of accurate financial statements and management reports. Responsibilities include monitoring cash flow, budgeting and forecasting, ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, and coordinating external audits. The role also involves developing and implementing accounting policies and internal controls, supervising and mentoring the accounting team, and collaborating with senior management to support strategic decision-making. The Chief Accountant will work closely with cross-functional teams to provide financial analysis, optimize cost controls, and improve overall financial efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance
  • Professional Accounting qualification e.g. ACCA or part thereof
  • 5+ years experience in a relevant position

Skills

  • Strong technical accounting skills, including financial reporting, general ledger management, and month-end/year-end closing.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis to support strategic decisions.
  • Experience with tax compliance, regulatory reporting, and coordination of internal and external audits.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software/ERP systems and solid MS Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
  • Proven leadership abilities, including supervising accounting staff, developing talent, and promoting a culture of accuracy and accountability.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or FMCG environments is an asset, as is familiarity with inventory and cost accounting.
