What will you do?

The Risk Solutions Group is a private‑side client facing business that provides corporate and mid‑market clients with interest rate hedging advisory and origination capabilities. This opportunity will be highly initiative‑driven and in addition to set responsibilities, the student will excel by seeking out their own opportunities to learn and add value.

Key responsibilities

  • Supporting senior salespeople on live deals and major transactions
  • Creating and maintaining pitch books and other client material to assist with hedge advisory discussions
  • Modelling and pricing complex derivative structures and liaising with swap traders
  • Analyzing economic research to develop market commentary
  • Supporting new client onboarding and pre‑trade and post‑trade processes
  • Conducting data analysis to identify new client opportunities
  • Partnering with RBC Canadian banking, investment banking, corporate banking, DCM and other capital markets teams on cross‑product client pitches and transaction execution
  • Completing ad‑hoc projects to analyze client data to improve operational processes

What do you need to succeed? Must have

  • Successful completion of a minimum of second year of an undergraduate degree
  • Basic market knowledge and a demonstrated keen interest in capital markets
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and comfort with PowerPoint and Excel – this role will require production and maintenance of high‑quality, cohesive, and thoughtfully designed presentation decks used in client and internal stakeholder presentations
  • Motivated and able to take initiative and self‑develop
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills, business sense and the ability to multi‑task and prioritize in high‑pressure environments
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Nice to have

  • CSC, CPH and enrolment in CFA is a strong asset
  • A sound understanding macro / interest rate market dynamics, bond markets, and high‑level understanding of how corporations utilize debt‑financing
  • Prior related work experience valued
  • Prior use of Bloomberg preferred
