Role Overview

Our Toronto office is currently seeking a Business Intelligence & Pricing Analyst to join our Accounting Department, reporting to the Senior Manager, System Reporting and Pricing. This position plays a critical role in enabling firm leadership and business development professionals to make data‑informed decisions about where the firm invests, how it goes to market, and how legal services are priced and delivered. This individual will be comfortable working at the intersection of business development and the accounting function in the firm, working with professionals on both teams to deliver thoughtful insights. The role operates within the firm’s Accounting function, and its primary stakeholder group is the Business Development & Marketing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Business Intelligence Reporting

  • Developing, maintaining, and enhancing dashboards, reports, and self service analytics tools, primarily for business development colleagues, that provide actionable insight into firm performance, including:

  1. Revenue and growth trends
  2. Margin analysis (including application of leverage, realization and productivity metrics to client relationships)
  3. Areas of opportunity including ‘white space’ analysis with existing clients
  4. Practice, industry group, client, and matter performance
  5. Individual lawyer performance indicators (with appropriate context and governance)

  • Translating complex financial and operational data into clear, intuitive visuals and narratives for firm leadership, business development professionals, and practice leaders.
  • Supportong strategic decision making related to:

  1. Practice and industry group investment
  2. Resource allocation and staffing models
  3. Go to market and client targeting strategies
  4. Content and thought leadership prioritization

  • Creating partnerships across Accounting, Business Development & Marketing, IT, and other internal teams to improve data quality, consistency, automation, and accessibility across systems.

Pricing & Alternative Fee Arrangements

  • Working closely with our Pricing Committee, Proposals & Pursuits professionals and lawyers to support pricing analysis for proposals, pitches, and client engagements.
  • Developing and maintaining pricing and margin models to evaluate:

  1. Alternative fee arrangements (fixed fees, phased fees, blended rates, retainers, etc.)
  2. Staffing scenarios and leverage assumptions
  3. Risk and margin sensitivity

  • Contributing to the creation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of pricing tools, templates, and methodologies that support efficient and consistent pricing decisions.
  • Tracking, analyzing, and helping archive alternative pricing arrangements, comparing projected vs. actual performance to inform future pricing strategy.
  • Acting as a resource to lawyers seeking guidance on testing alternative pricing approaches, helping them understand trade offs between pricing, staffing, scope, and margin.

Strategic Insight & Continuous Improvement

  • Conducting ad hoc analysis to support firm wide initiatives, executive requests, and emerging strategic questions.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance pricing governance, analytical rigor, and repeatability across proposals and client engagements.
  • Contributing to the evolution of the firm’s broader business intelligence and pricing capability, with scope to take on greater leadership or specialization over time.

The successful candidate must have the following education, experience and/or demonstrated skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, Business, Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in business intelligence, financial analysis, pricing, or analytics. Experience in a law firm or other professional services environment strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and business intelligence / analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, comparable platforms).
  • Experience working with financial, matter‑level, or practice management data; familiarity with legal practice management or billing systems is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to distill complex data into clear, decision‑oriented insights and communicate effectively with lawyers, business development and accounting colleagues, and senior leaders
  • Manage multiple priorities with attention to detail and deadlines
  • Strong business judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a collaborative, service‑oriented mindset.

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: $85,000 – $95,000
