Business Analyst – Finance Operations

JOB SUMMARY
As the Business Analyst, you are required to prepare financial data related to customs duties and taxes, customer billings, and government remittances. This role will support the Senior Financial Analyst, Duty Audit, to drive business process and application improvements. You will play a key role alongside Operations and Finance partners to support applications improvement for operational efficiency.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the daily duty audit reconciliation, including matching and ACH Forecast.
- Prepare routine (daily, weekly, and monthly) and ad hoc reporting of key financial information to support business decision making or high‑quality customer service.
- Propose and influence alternate financial and business solutions linked to key performance metrics, process improvements and technology changes.
- Assist with application development, improvement, testing and implementation.
- Ensure compliance with company guidelines and financial reporting requirements.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors, responding to requests for information and reports.
- Active participation in financing and operations projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures.
Application Enhancement & Testing
- Hands‑on experience in testing application enhancements related to customer duties and taxes within customs brokerage or finance systems.
- Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into test scenarios, test cases, and test scripts.
- Experience in functional, regression, and UAT testing for finance and operations applications.
- Experience in defect tracking, root cause analysis, and coordination with IT/vendors for resolution.
- Documentation of test results, change requests, and enhancement sign‑offs.
Process Improvement & Optimization
- Strong skills in process mapping, gap analysis, and workflow optimization across finance and customs operations.
- Experience driving process standardization and automation initiatives.
- Ability to define and track process KPIs and improvement metrics.
- Proven capability to recommend and implement system‑enabled process improvements.
Behavioral & Stakeholder Skills
- Strong collaboration skills with Operations, Finance and IT teams.
- Clear communication of business requirements and test outcomes.
- Ability to manage multiple enhancements, testing cycles, and process initiatives concurrently.
- High attention to detail and a strong control mindset.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills, able to address complex challenges with large datasets.
- Ability to navigate financial and operations applications, research variances and identify root causes of discrepancies.
- Process mapping; aligning technology to support critical business processes.
- Metrics driven; adhere to service standards and strive to exceed target results for the group.
- Proven ability to meet tight timelines in an environment with competing priorities.
- Be proactive and energetic in the work situation, seeking to get things done and able to multi‑task.
- Communicate effectively and professionally.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Access and PowerPoint). Experience with advanced data/analytical software and business process automation applications would be an asset.
WORK EXPERIENCE – MINIMUM REQUIRED
5 years of related experience.
EDUCATION
Required:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting.
