About the Role:
You will be responsible for maintaining accurate trust and general ledgers, managing payroll and commission calculations, and ensuring timely and compliant HST/GST and provincial sales tax filings. Working on-site with the team, you will support month-end processes, prepare expense reports, and keep financial data organized and up to date. Your work will have a direct impact on financial integrity, compliance, and decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and reconcile general and trust ledgers, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in Quick Books. Process payroll, including commissions, deductions, and remittances, in accordance with current legislation and company policies. Prepare and file HST/GST and provincial sales tax returns accurately and on time. Enter and verify financial data, invoices, and expenses with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Prepare and maintain supporting schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for month-end and year-end processes. Monitor accounts payable and receivable entries, flagging discrepancies and following up on outstanding items. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather information, resolve issues, and support financial reporting requirements.
Key Requirements:
Looking for bookkeeper with 3+ years of experience in a similar bookkeeping role. Proven experience with general ledger maintenance, including reconciliations and journal entries. Hands-on experience with payroll processing, including commissions and statutory remittances. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping. Solid understanding of HST/GST and provincial sales tax rules and filing processes. Proficiency using Quick Books for day-to-day bookkeeping tasks.
Ability to work in-office in downtown Ottawa and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines. Desirable
Skills:
Experience working with trust accounts in a professional environment. Familiarity with preparing reports and supporting documentation for external accountants. Intermediate Excel skills for reconciliations and financial analysis. Experience improving or streamlining bookkeeping processes and controls.
Qualifications:
