Auto Pricing Actuary – Personal Lines The Opportunity
Zurich Canada is seeking an Auto Pricing Actuary for the Personal Lines Auto business to support pricing processes and provide analytical support and insights to the pricing team and business partners.
What you will do
- Under general supervision, support the pricing of new business and renewal portfolios and develop effective premium and rating structures.
- Contribute to interactions with rate regulators, internal partners, and governance on pricing‑related topics.
- Support the development and maintenance of pricing models, tools, and reporting capabilities.
- Develop a solid understanding of factors impacting loss costs and premiums, and contribute to initiatives that increase pricing sophistication, including creation of new predictive models.
- Assist in monitoring portfolio performance and profitability for new and renewal business.
- Prepare and perform actuarial analyses, including trend analyses, indications, rate impact and other pricing‑related studies.
- Support Product and Underwriting teams by providing diverse analysis and recommendations.
- Assist in the testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of pricing algorithms and tools.
- Remain informed of regulatory and market developments and incorporate learnings into pricing analyses.
- Operate within Zurich underwriting guidelines and procedures.
Job Qualifications – What you bring to the table
Required:
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree.
- 5–7 years of experience in the Actuarial area, preferably in Personal Lines pricing.
- Progress toward actuarial designation (ACAS or equivalent international certification).
Preferred:
- Experience in auto pricing across one or more provinces.
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical results to non‑technical stakeholders.
Compensation
We are committed to pay equity. Salary range for this position is 108,000 – 158,000. This range reflects expected pay across Canada and may vary based on location, responsibilities, and qualifications.
Fluency in both spoken and written English is required to facilitate communication with internal and external stakeholders outside Quebec.
