Credit Associate – UK Real Estate Finance

Caravel is exclusively mandated by a leading, institutionally backed European real estate lender to appoint a UK Credit Associate into their London-based Risk & Asset Management team.

Our client is a highly active real estate credit platform with a multi-billion pound loan book and a strong track record in development finance. With significant capital backing and continued growth across the UK and Europe, they are looking to strengthen their credit capability at a pivotal stage of expansion.

The Role

This is a visible and technically strong credit role, working closely with senior credit leadership across new transactions and the live portfolio.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining underwriting discipline, valuation integrity and overall portfolio risk oversight. This is a 2LOD role but works in close quarters with the execution team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing development finance transactions from a credit and valuation perspective
  • Assessing red book valuations, title reports and construction due diligence
  • Performing second-level checks on underwriting models, credit papers and approval materials
  • Acting as a first responder on credit amendments, waivers and approvals
  • Managing valuation instruction processes and coordinating independent reviews where required
  • Monitoring loan portfolios to ensure covenant compliance and milestone tracking
  • Supporting the ongoing evolution of underwriting policy and internal credit frameworks
  • Undertaking thematic portfolio reviews and stress-testing sub-portfolios

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys the analytical depth of credit and wants exposure to complex development transactions within a sophisticated platform.

Candidate Profile

We are keen to speak with individuals who have:

  • Circa 5+ years’ experience within property finance, ideally development finance
  • Experience working within a credit risk, underwriting, or valuation-led function
  • Strong understanding of real estate due diligence (valuation, title, construction)
  • Excellent numerical ability and strong Excel skills
  • High attention to detail and the ability to clearly articulate risks and mitigants
  • The ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Surveyors with strong exposure to lender-side valuation processes who are keen to transition into a finance environment will also be considered.

Why This Opportunity?

  • Join a well-capitalised, growing European real estate credit platform
  • Work closely with senior decision-makers in a technically rigorous credit environment
  • Gain exposure across underwriting, valuation oversight and portfolio risk
  • Clear long-term progression within an expanding platform
