Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Assistant Financial Controller role based in Dubrovnik. The Assistant Financial Controller supports the Financial Controller in managing day-to-day finance operations, including overseeing accounting entries, reviewing general ledger postings, and ensuring accurate month-end and year-end closings. The role is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements and management reports, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and monitoring hotel performance against financial targets. The Assistant Financial Controller helps ensure compliance with internal policies, local regulations, and group standards, and supports internal and external audits with timely, accurate documentation. The role partners closely with operational departments to provide financial insights, control costs, improve profitability, and contribute to continuous process improvements within the hotel’s finance function.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Accounting and Finance, with the ability to apply hotel and hospitality accounting principles in daily operations.
- Proficiency in preparing and interpreting Financial Statements and Financial Reporting for management and external stakeholders.
- Well-developed Analytical Skills, including the ability to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost control and revenue optimization.
- Experience with hotel or hospitality finance systems and ERP/accounting software; strong Excel skills and comfort with data analysis tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CMA) are an advantage.
- Knowledge of local financial regulations, tax requirements, and internal control best practices in a hotel or service environment.
- High attention to detail, integrity, and accuracy, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, guest-focused operation.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the capacity to partner with non-financial stakeholders and support decision-making.
- Previous experience in hotel or hospitality finance or controlling roles is preferred; willingness to work on-site and adapt to operational needs.
