The Opportunity
A leading national logistics/eCommerce fulfillment provider is seeking an Assistant Controller who will assist with overseeing the financial operations of its rapidly scaling national footprint.
In this role, you aren’t just maintaining the status quo; you are mastering the flow of massive datasets. With hundreds of thousands of lines of shipping data processed monthly, we need an Assistant Controller with a "data architect" mindset to ensure month-end integrity and GAAP compliance. This is a 100% remote position for residents of the Greater Las Vegas area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Close Leadership: Own the full month-end close cycle, identifying bottlenecks in complex data flows and ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Data & Margin Analysis: Manage the logic and reconciliation for high-volume data sets (250,000+ lines per month) to ensure flawless revenue-to-expense reporting.
- Technical Mentorship: Directly supervise and develop a team of two Staff Accountants, acting as the primary technical resource for complex reconciliations and lease accounting.
- Compliance Oversight: Lead technical GAAP initiatives, with a specific focus on ASC 842 (Lease Accounting) across a national warehouse footprint.
- System Optimization: Act as the liaison between Accounting and IT to implement automation, improve data integrity, and shorten close timelines.
Candidate Profile:
- Advanced Technical Skills: You are an Excel Power User who finds genuine joy in XLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and automated modeling.
- Proactive Communicator: You thrive in a remote environment by raising issues early and providing thorough, logic-based updates.
- Hands-on Leader: You are willing to "get your hands dirty" in the spreadsheets to support your team when they hit a roadblock.
- Experience/Education: 3+ years of accounting experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Systems: Familiarity with Sage 100, Microsoft Dynamics, or QuickBooks is highly preferred.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $80,000 – $90,000 annually, depending on experience.
- Location: Remote or Hybrid (Must reside in the Las Vegas area for Pacific Time business hours).
