The Opportunity
We are looking for a high-performance financial leader to step into a mission-critical role within our executive finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Assistant Controller will be the engine room of our financial operations.
This is more than a departmental role; it is a succession-track position. We are seeking a candidate with the technical mastery and leadership potential to grow into the Controller role as they demonstrate excellence in overseeing our fiscal integrity.
Executive Responsibilities
- Orchestrate the preparation of monthly financial statements and GAAP-compliant reporting. You aren't just running reports; you are ensuring the accuracy that drives our executive decisions.
- Establish, maintain, and evolve internal controls. You will be the architect of our policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring we remain audit-ready at all times.
- Partner with the CFO on the budgeting process, management of forecasts, and high-level analysis of cost variances to protect project margins.
- Supervise and cultivate a high-functioning accounting team. Your goal is to mentor junior staff in technical principles and professional excellence.
- Manage the general ledger, payroll, and 401K administration with total precision.
- Construction-Specific Expertise: * Coordinate with Project Accounting to ensure seamless accuracy in project costing.
- Master the nuances of local/state tax regulations and sales/use tax specific to the construction industry.
- Proactively manage contractor licenses and subcontractor prequalification processes.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all sensitive financial and payroll data.
Qualifications & Required Experience
- BS Degree in Accounting is required with 5+ years of rigorous experience in construction financial or general ledger accounting.
- We need a self-motivated professional who is detail-oriented enough to manage the minutiae today, but strategic enough to lead the department tomorrow.
- Excellent ability to organize, analyze, and present complex financial data to executive leadership.
