Title: Assistant Controller

Summary of Function:

The Assistant Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting functions, support monthly and annual accounting routines, assist with budgeting and forecasting, along with support of special projects. This role will have oversight of Staff Accountant as well as AP/AR Specialists.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Financial reporting:
    • Prepare accurate financial statements
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
    • Responsible for analysis of results and financial reporting

Account Management:

  • Oversee general accounting operations, including managing the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable.
  • Oversee accounting for tooling, fixed assets, and manage capital budgets.

Compliance:

  • Assist with internal and external audits – provide documentation and address inquiries
  • Lead account reconciliation and manage month end checklists
  • Maintain internal controls and policy adherence

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Collaborate with department managers and plant leaders to prepare budgets and forecasts
  • Analyze financial data to provide insights

Other Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, ensuring accuracy of their work, provide guidance and training
  • Drive process improvements and standardization across all the accounting functions.

Organizational Relationships:

The Associate Controller reports to the Finance Controller and manages AP/AR and tooling accounting functions. This position has a working relationship with the management team and all functional groups of the company.

Experience and/or Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and controls. CPA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in accounting within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate cross functionally with people at all levels throughout the organization
  • Self starter and eager to learn and improve on the current state.
  • Ability to lead teams and provide coaching and guidance.
  • Software/Excel strength required
