Assistant Accountant
Role Purpose
Our client, a well-established organization with operations across multiple sectors, including publicly listed entities, is seeking a competent Assistant Accountant to support its finance function.
This role requires a strong foundation in accounting with exposure to consolidated financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting within a structured corporate environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and consolidation of financial statements across multiple entities
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closing processes
- Prepare and review journal entries, ledgers, and reconciliations
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy
- Assist in the preparation of management reports and financial analysis
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
- Support audits by coordinating with internal and external auditors
- Monitor and maintain proper documentation of financial records
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Assist in improving financial processes and controls
Candidate Profile
- Chartered Accountant (fully qualified) or in the final year of qualification (CA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years of commercial accounting experience
- Hands-on experience in preparing consolidated financial statements is essential
- Experience working with or exposure to publicly listed companies is an added advantage
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting systems
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
