Our client is a Top 60, advisory-led accountancy and professional services firm with a strong UK presence. With over 40 years’ heritage and continued national growth, they have evolved into a multi-office business employing 200+ professionals across Audit, Accounts, Tax and Advisory.

Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an Accounts Senior to join their expanding Accounts team in Manchester.

The Role

This is a hands‑on, client‑facing role suited to a qualified accountant who enjoys taking ownership of a portfolio and mentoring others. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality accounts and tax services, while working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure excellent client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accounts files, statutory accounts, corporation tax returns and directors’ personal tax returns to a standard ready for senior review.
  • Meet with key clients regularly to review records and discuss performance.
  • Review work completed by junior team members, providing clear feedback and ensuring review points are addressed.
  • Finalise files and reports following senior review, ready for client meetings.
  • Ensure all accounts and tax returns are submitted in line with internal compliance procedures.
  • Mentor and support colleagues from apprentice to senior level, assisting with day‑to‑day team management.
  • Proactively identify and resolve client issues, contributing to service improvements.
  • Manage client workflows and diaries to ensure work is completed on time and within budget.
  • Review client fees and highlight recovery issues to senior stakeholders.
  • Act as a main point of contact for accounts clients, maintaining regular communication.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce additional services to existing clients.

About You

  • ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with at least 3 years’ post‑qualification experience.
  • Proven experience working in an accountancy practice environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of FRS
    102, FRS
    102 Section 1A and FRS
    105.
  • Experience preparing consolidated accounts.
  • Confident managing client relationships.
  • Comfortable mentoring and reviewing junior staff.
  • Proactive, organised and able to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels.
