As we continue to grow, we are looking for a talented and experienced Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team.
Job Summary: Black 17 is looking for an Accounting Manager who is excited by both accounting and by the music industry. This role is ideal for an accountant with 2–4 years of experience who seeks exposure to complex royalty accounting, global digital revenue channels, and streamlined financial operations in a fast-paced environment. The Accounting Manager will support the monthly close process, lead revenue and royalty accounting, prepare reconciliations, and help maintain strong financial controls across multiple business units. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and comfortable navigating large datasets.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and cash activity.
- Analyze digital revenue reports from DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon, TikTok, etc.).
- Support royalty accounting and artist statement preparation.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed.
- Support external audits and tax compliance by preparing schedules and documentation.
- Investigate variances and unusual transactions across revenue streams.
- Partner with Executive, Operations, Business Affairs, Publishing, and third party teams on financial reporting initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows through automation and process improvements.
Requirements:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 2–4 years of public accounting or industry accounting experience.
- CPA
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data analysis).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred:
- Experience with ERP systems, and ability to navigate new systems and software.
- Exposure to music, entertainment, media, or royalty accounting.
- Familiarity with large data exports and reconciliation of third-party reporting.
- History with process automation and data integrity projects.
