We are looking for an accounting leader with expertise in GAAP, including new and complex transactions, who can thrive within a rapidly growing organization. You will translate evolving accounting standards into clear, actionable guidance. Your work will include collaboration across teams to lead through the accounting implications of transactions and also refine controls and processes and strengthen documentation discipline. Month end close, audit support, and preparation for SOX and IPO milestones will be central to the role. You will lead and develop a capable team while raising accuracy, consistency, and operational excellence. Responsibilities:
- Monitor new accounting standards, perform technical research, and prepare detailed accounting conclusions.
- Update and refine accounting policies and related documentation, ensuring clarity across the organization.
- Lead training efforts to help teams understand and adopt new accounting requirements.
- Assess unusual and/or complex transactions and determine appropriate accounting treatments.
- Partner with cross functional internal stakeholders to document processes and improve controls during integration efforts.
- Strengthen internal controls through evaluation, documentation, and implementation of enhancements.
- Complete key close tasks including journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting analyses.
- Coordinate with external auditors and provide requested information and explanations.
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members while promoting best practices.
- Oversee daily activities of direct reports and ensure timely, accurate deliverables.
- Support SOX and IPO readiness initiatives through planning, documentation, and project execution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar required.
- CPA certification required.
- 10+ years professional accounting experience needed, including experience effectively leading a team.
- Significant public accounting experience required, ideally 5+ years with a Big 4 or large national assurance practice.
- Strong GAAP knowledge and experience staying abreast of technical accounting standards, assessing potential impact to the organization, documenting and disseminating that information to internal stakeholders.
- Experience with public company processes and controls a plus.
- Proven ability to lead projects and drive process improvements and large-scale initiatives.
- Analytical thinker with a strong sense of curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
