About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team. This pivotal role is essential for maintaining precise financial records and supporting the company’s close processes. As Vercel prepares to operate as a public company, the Staff Accountant will play a crucial part in enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of our financial operations. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Accounting, the successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring compliance, improving processes, and supporting audit activities. The role offers flexibility based on location: employees within a designated commuting radius of our offices in San Francisco, New York, London, or Berlin will participate in in-office days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, while those beyond this range can work remotely. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 1+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in Big 4 public accounting or high-growth companies
- CPA certification or current pursuit of CPA designation
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of ownership
- Process-oriented mindset with an interest in automation and AI integration
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Responsibilities
- Support the monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial data
- Prepare journal entries, perform reconciliations, and conduct flux analyses for assigned accounts
- Manage accounting activities related to cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intangibles
- Provide detailed financial reports and analyses to internal stakeholders to facilitate decision-making
- Assist in responding to audit requests and ensuring compliance with internal controls and external regulations
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Participate in the development and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures
- Build and utilize AI agents to automate routine accounting activities
- Support special projects and initiatives as assigned
