Position: Accountant 3
NOTE:
This position will be based full-time in our Houston, TX office currently located in Galleria area, and moving to City Center area in May 2026.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Accountant 3 reports to the Manager, Revenue & Financial Compliance. This role requires in-depth knowledge of client billings, accounts receivable, revenue, and general accounting. Regular collaboration with other departments and customers is crucial to success in this position. The Accountant 3 also has accountability for preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and supporting internal and external audit requests.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepares all monthly revenue recognition and cost share related journal entries by working closely with the Manager, Revenue & Financial Compliance to ensure appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606 and cost share recognition.
- Prepares journal entries to support the month-end close process, ensuring accurate coding under GAAP and NuScale’s Chart of Accounts structure.
- Prepares monthly and quarterly reconciliations for GL accounts and subsystems.
- Gathers, organizes, and processes documentation for projects being performed across the company, maintaining a large data set. This will require regular collaboration with internal groups and clients.
- Successfully performs key Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) controls in areas such as Revenue and Financial Close Management.
- Dedication to continuously improving accounting, reporting, and SOX processes, with ability to lead process improvement initiatives.
- Supports financial statement audits, incurred cost audits, and internal audits.

Minimum Skills, Qualifications And Abilities
- Education:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related business field is required. An advanced degree and/or Certified Public Accountant designation is preferred.
- Experience:
A minimum of three years of full-time accounting experience is required. Must possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organization. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to work successfully on cross-functional teams, as well as independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives.
