Role Description
The Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial management, reporting, and control environment of GISCAD Limited while contributing to the wider financial oversight of the GISCAD Group. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, financial controls, statutory compliance, and multi-entity financial operations.
The Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing management accounts, supporting audits, monitoring working capital, and helping to ensure that the company and its related entities operate with financial discipline and efficiency. Given the regional nature of the Group, the role also requires an appreciation for intercompany transactions, multi-currency environments, and cross-border financial coordination. This role reports to the Group Finance Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting and Reporting
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts for GISCAD Limited and support reporting across other group entities where required.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper recording of all financial transactions.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any variances or unusual items.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Support the year-end audit process, including preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and audit support documents.
- Ensure all accounting records are properly maintained and supported by adequate documentation.
Accounts Payable and Receivable Oversight
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure completeness, timeliness, and accuracy.
- Monitor collections, customer balances, and overdue accounts, supporting the business in improving cash collections.
- Review supplier payments and ensure that obligations are settled in accordance with approved terms and internal controls.
- Assist in managing cash flow by tracking receivables, payables, and expected inflows and outflows.
Group and Intercompany Accounting
- Record and reconcile intercompany transactions across group companies.
- Support the preparation of intercompany schedules and ensure balances are agreed across entities.
- Assist in standardizing finance processes and reporting formats across subsidiaries where applicable.
- Provide support for financial reporting related to regional operations, including multi-entity and multi-currency activities.
Financial Analysis
- Assist with the preparation of forecasts, and periodic reforecasts.
- Support business unit leaders with financial data and analysis to aid planning and decision-making.
- Analyze variances between budget and actual results and provide clear explanations.
- Prepare financial reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses for management review.
Compliance and Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with statutory filing requirements, tax obligations, and relevant accounting standards.
- Assist in preparing VAT, PAYE, corporation tax, and other statutory submissions as required.
- Maintain strong internal controls and help identify areas for process improvement and risk reduction.
- Ensure finance procedures are followed consistently and recommend improvements where needed.
Banking, Treasury, and Cash Management
- Prepare bank reconciliations on a timely basis.
- Monitor cash balances and assist in short-term cash planning.
- Support banking relationships and documentation requirements.
- Assist with foreign currency transactions and monitoring where relevant to regional operations.
Systems and Process Improvement
- Contribute to the improvement of accounting systems, reporting tools, and financial workflows.
- Support automation and digitization initiatives within the finance function.
- Help improve reporting accuracy, turnaround time, and visibility across the Group.
Qualifications:
- Professional accounting qualification in ACCA
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity or group business environment.
- Experience with management reporting, reconciliations, statutory compliance, and audit preparation.
- Experience in a regional business, distribution environment, technology business, or services-based company would be an asset.
- Familiarity with multi-currency accounting and intercompany accounting is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel is essential.
