Job Description:

The Senior Director of Finance is a part of the Resource Industries Sales, Services and Technology Division (RISST), which is the commercial facing division for Resource Industries segment for Caterpillar Inc.

The Resource Industries Segment includes equipment and services supporting the mining, quarry & aggregates, and heavy construction industries. In addition to equipment, Resource Industries also develops and sells technology products and services to provide customers fleet management systems, equipment management analytics and autonomous machine capabilities.

Job Summary:

The Senior Director of Finance works across highly diverse and global teams to provide strategic counsel and deliver analysis and insights, partnering with the business to drive profitable growth. The role reports to the Division CFO of the Caterpillar RISST Division and partners with the Go-to-Market and Strategic Accounts Vice Presidents.

This senior leader is the primary business partner and trusted adviser for the RISST Senior Vice President, and Vice President Leadership Team including 3 VPs for the Go-to-Market team and Strategic Accounts covering main regions around the globe (Americas, EAME, APD).

Additional Information:

This role will be based in Tucson, AZ, Peoria, IL or Irving, TX with up to 20% travel. Domestic relocation assistance is provided.
Visa Sponsorship will not be offered.
This role is on-site five days a week.
This position is eligible for stock or other equity grants pursuant to Caterpillar’s long-term incentive plan.

What You Will Do:

Driving partnership with leadership team to gain appropriate alignment and understanding of key requirements / outcomes to drive profitable growth.

Providing strategic counsel to enhance performance and position the business for long-term success.

Leading RISST/Go-to-market monthly business report, analysis, forecast and insights. Presenting results to leadership.

Strategic thought partner to the business VPs within RISST, provide business insights and support for the Resource Industries Go-to-Market (Commercial) organizations, including deal analysis, regional sales analysis and profitability analysis.

Ensuring appropriate delivery and presentation of insights and value to commercial leaders as they run their businesses including the Sr. Vice President RISST. High visibility role with presentations to SVPs and VPs across Resource Industries and other segments.

Collaborating across Resource Industries segment and the broader Caterpillar enterprise to ensure an enterprise focus is maintained.

Fostering a strong business risk management governance process

Championing the finance transformation and continuous process improvement within RI and RISST division

Effectively lead a diverse team, focused on proper talent development, succession planning, performance management and target setting.

What You Have- Skills:

Business Acumen: Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company’s business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations

Financial Analysis & Financial Model: Expert in financial analysis and financial modeling, ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material. Ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations. Explains and advocate the organization’s business model and competitive position to the enterprise and to the marketplace.

Strategic Thinking : Knowledge of the importance of “big picture” thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization

Leadership: Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there

Effective Communications : (Extensive Experience) Communicates effectively at Group President, Senior VPs, Group CFO and VPs. Applying effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

Additional Experience:

Education/Experience: 12 to 15-year degree in accounting/finance and/or relevant accounting/finance/business experience. MBA Preferred

Demonstrated success and progression in previously held accounting or finance roles

Operates as a true business partner. Ability to build strong relationships and partner across functions to help drive the business.

Superior communication and influencing skills. An effective communicator with the ability to build relationships across an organization.

Summary Pay Range:

$199,680.00 – $299,520.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
